Holding Job Interviews
Wow, what a busy week this has been! Not only have we been smashed with work, but we have had to hold job interviews in between!! We have finished them now, we short listed seven applicants for our Part-time admin position. Out of that seven, four arrived either early or on time, one arrived fifteen minutes late, one cancelled as they found another job (which is awesome, congrats!) and another didn't even bother to show up! (no phone call or email either!) We also held an interview for a developer, he applied for the admin position but after looking at his CV and his skill set, we decided to make a role specific to him and he interviewed great and will be starting in a few weeks! Now out of our short list applicants for the office admin, the decision has been harder then we could have ever imagined! Matt was left to the task of interviewing and making the final decisions as the new employee will be taking a chunk of his workload, so he can focus on IT and related services. I played more of a support role in the interview, providing additional information and making sure everyone was more relaxed (throwing in a few jokes here and there) I think he has now made his final decision so will be contacting everyone either today or tomorrow to let them know. How did we hold our interviews? Well since this was our first time doing something like this, Matt set a specific set of questions more a less to test their responses (answers weren't actually that important, more to see how the handled the questions). Then he had a series of tick boxes outlining what specifics he was looking for in the applicant. We had quite a varied bunch of applicants with awesome skill sets in different areas that would all benefit Webhead moving forward, but sadly we can only hire someone part time for an admin position at this point. I know we will definitely be retaining a few of these CVS for future employment cos everyone was awesome! This process has definitely been an eye opener in the world of being an employer that's for sure! Reminds me of my days going for job interviews and how nervous I felt! -Shudders-
